Learning objectives : Pupils will be taught to:
i. Name of solid shape
ii. Describe and classify common 3-D shapes
Learning outcomes : At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
i. Recognize and name of 3-D solid shape.
ii. Recognize physical model of 3-dimensional shapes with their illustrations.
iii. Relate objects in the environment to geometric figures and match solid shapes (cube, cylinder, sphere, cuboid, cone) to objects.
Previous knowledge : The students have learnt the 2-D shape and know how to describe 2-D shape.
Moral values : Responsible, cooperative and helpful

2) 3-Demension models
3) 3-D chart
4) Worksheet
PROCEDURE/TIME LOCATED | CONTENT | TEACHING AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES | REMARKS |
Set Induction (5 minutes) | · Introducing the concept of three-dimension shape with puppet show. | 1. Teacher shows objects of 3-D shape in the environment such as tissue box, tin can and party hat to geometric figures. 2. Teacher introduce today’s topic. | Teaching Method 3-D models Moral Values Cooperative and helpful Thinking Skills Comparing and contrasting Vocabulary cube, cylinder, sphere, cuboid, cone |
Step 1 (20 minutes) | · Teacher explains the shapes and guides students to name those objects. · Example: - cube - cylinder - - cone | 1. Teacher will be introducing 3-D shapes through puppet show and names the shape. 2. Example: Teacher: “Hi, I am Mr. Cube…I have 6 flat faces, 12 edges and 8 corners…Nice to meet you”. 3. The show will be continued with next shapes. 4. Teacher explains the shapes and describes the flat faces, edges, curves and corners. 5. Pupils will be asked to answer the question and name the shapes again. | Teaching Method Puppet show and 3-D models Moral Values Cooperative and helpful Thinking Skills Comparing and contrasting Vocabulary cube, cylinder, sphere, cuboid, cone |
Step 2 (15 minutes) | Class activity | 1. Teacher begins the class activity with dividing the class into two groups. 2. A student selected will be recognize the shape given by the member later on and name the correct it. 3. Then, teacher ask selected student to put the solid 3-d shape at the correct place to 3-d chart. | Teaching Method 3-D models Moral Values Cooperative and helpful Thinking Skills Comparing and Contrasting, Sequencing. Vocabulary cube, cylinder, sphere, cuboid, cone |
Step 3 (15 minutes) | Class practice Assessment with worksheet | 1. Teacher given the worksheet exercise about 3-D shape and space. | Teaching Method Worksheet Moral Values Cooperative and helpful Thinking Skills Comparing and Contrasting, Sequencing. Vocabulary cube, cylinder, sphere, cuboid, cone |
Closure (5 minutes) | Summary of the lesson | 1. Teacher concludes the lessons by asking five different students to match name with picture solid objects or real objects. | Teaching Method Mathematics courseware year 1 Moral Values Cooperative Thinking Skills Making conclusion Vocabulary cube, cylinder, sphere, cuboid, cone |
